We were searching for an assisted living facility for my sister and visited several in the area. After meeting the staff and speaking with the residents, we ultimately chose Brookdale Peoria-and we couldn't be happier with our decision. Colleen and Collin were absolute gems-compassionate, attentive, and deeply committed to understanding and supporting my sister's needs. They made what could have been a difficult process feel thoughtful and reassuring. We also had the pleasure of working with Monica, the RN, who is not only knowledgeable and full of energy, but also impressively perceptive. She quickly understood what kind of care my sister required. Her insight gave us tremendous peace of mind. Jamie, who masterfully schedules the daily activities, brings vibrancy into the fold. Everyday offers something engaging-whether it a B-fit class, balloon badminton or a friendly game of dominoes. She organizes the weekly outings to places like Hobby Lobby, Dollar Tree or bowling. And the special events, Hawaiian Day, Tie-Dyed Day, and Family Day-show just how much creativity and care she pours into making life fun and meaningful for the residents. A big kudos as well to the chef, whose well thought out menus and commitment to timely meals have not gone unnoticed. Of course there is a learning curve that every family will experience when transitioning a loved one into a facility. But our hopes rested on one thing: that my sister would be happy. And when we saw her, smiling in her adorable little apartment, she told us she felt safe and comfortable. That moment meant everything! Brookdale Peoria isn't just a facility-it's a community. And we are so grateful my sister is part of it.
Moving my Dad and stepmom (who both have dementia) to Assisted Living was a difficult decision (to say the least!). From the home visit/intake interview, by Jaki, I knew Brookdale was the place for them! Jaki called me immediately following and said “I fell in love with your Dad. They will both thrive here!”. She saw in them, their needs, fears and also their personalities. Before the move, we had conference calls to create a plan and the team was with us every step of the way. It was an awful beginning (and nothing to do w BDale and their team), but the team held our hands and more importantly was there for my Dad and stepmom. I was sad and worried when Jaki left. That anxiety has been alleviated by Monica, the new Health & Wellness Director at Brookdale. We have regular communication, she has gotten to know them and addresses all needs and concerns. Their NP, Renee, who visits every wk communicates with me regularly and Kim (activities coordinator) keeps an eye on both of them and helps with whatever they need. I visited for five days recently and it was clear that Brookdale is home and their staff is family. We are SO grateful! There is no perfect Assisted Living facility because nobody wants to place family. However, Brookdale Peoria is a special place, with special people.
Respectful, caring and compassionate are the words that I would use to describe the staff at Brookdale Peoria. The care that my mother has received in this facility is excellent. Administration, nursing staff and support staff are readily available to meet the needs of the residents and to answer any questions. The facility is clean and inviting. Further, Brookdale Peoria offers many activities for its residents. I would highly recommend this facility.
It was extremely difficult for my mom to live away from her own home but the people, both residents and staff, made her new home a much more enjoyable experience than I ever thought possible. The staff really care about the residents and are even protective of them which I greatly appreciate. When I visited Brookdale Peoria is always clean and accommodating. My mom has made many friends and she is overall happy to be living there.
I highly recommend Brookdale Peoria! They have delicious food and a wonderful cook that aims to please everyone! Their director, wellness director, and their whole team really care! They do everything they can to help make my Dad's stay there the best it can be. The people living there are wonderful as well. Don't look any further - Brookdale is the place!
