Mom and Dad’s Houses in Long Beach and Lakewood, California, are small, family-style assisted living homes that focus on providing loving and respectful care for seniors. The homes are clean, cozy, and designed to feel just like a home, not an institution. The staff are experienced, caring, and attentive, making sure residents are well taken care of and comfortable. Many reviews highlight how much families trust and appreciate the owners, Ivonne and Matt, for their hands-on approach and dedication to residents’ happiness. The homes offer various activities, outings, and celebrations to keep residents engaged and happy.
Families often say their loved ones are safe, well-fed with home-cooked meals, and treated with kindness and dignity. The homes also help with appointments and transportation, making daily life easier for families. Many reviews mention how peaceful and inviting the environment feels, and how impressed visitors are with the cleanliness and warmth of the homes.
However, there is at least one serious negative review. A family member reported that their 99-year-old mother was illegally evicted from the home, which caused significant distress and hardship. This review accuses Ivonne of wrongful actions that allegedly led to the elderly woman being homeless and unfairly removed from the home. The social services upheld the complaint, confirming the eviction was illegal.
Overall, most reviews are very positive, praising the caring staff, the quality of care, and the welcoming atmosphere. But a few reviews raise concerns about a legal dispute and possible unethical behavior by the owner. Families considering Mom and Dad’s Houses should weigh these perspectives and carefully review any current legal or official records before making a decision.

My mom has been at Mom & Dad's house since March 2016. It has been such a positive experience for our family. The home is clean and comfortable and the staff are helpful and friendly. The administrator, Ivonne, takes a genuine personal interest in the well being of each resident. She works hard to provide activities, outings and parties as well as seeking volunteers to visit and interact with the residents. I feel very happy to have found such a nice home for my mother. My mother's sister felt the same way and decided to move over there 2 weeks ago. She is very glad that she did.
I would highly recommend Mom & Dad's House to anyone. Ivonne, Matt and their staff are so caring, thoughtful and professional. They made my mother's and my family's lives so easy and wonderful as we felt so loved and cared for. The hospice nurses were also surprised at all of the help and offerings as they said that never happens anywhere else. Everyone that came to visit my mom was so impressed with the house and the staff as they said it was incomparable to any other home/facility they've visited. Mom & Dad's House, thank you again for everything!!!!
Having my mother-in-law at Mom and Dad’s House gives our family such peace of mind, because we know she is safe and so well cared for. The house is always clean and inviting, the people who care for the residents are patient and experienced in working with the elderly. The owners, Ivonne and Matt, are very hands-on and work hard to give the residents lots of activities during the week and also with family members. I wish I had a place like Mom and Dad’s house for my mother in the few years before she passed away instead of a traditional skilled nursing facility. I highly recommend Mom and Dad’s House if you’re looking for a home environment for your loved one that will provide excellent, loving care every day.
Today is a wonderful day for our family. Social services notified us our our complaint was upheld and Ivonne’s appeal denied on June 15, 2023. My mother was illegally evicted from this facility. She was 99 years old! In a diaper and a wheelchair. These facts are all SUBSTANTIATED on social services. Please check your facts for yourself and protect your loved one.
When my grandmother went to have her medication evaluated at Ivonne’s recommendation she refused to allow her back. We contacted social services when our grandmother being illegally evicted. This complaint was substantiated and there is documentation of it. Ivonne’s actions caused my grandmother to be homeless. Decide for yourself if this is where you really want your family member.
