Palmcrest Grand Residence is a well-recognized senior community that has won several awards, including being rated among the best of senior living for three years in a row. The facility is spacious, modern, and clean, with nice common areas, beautiful rooms, and amenities like a private cinema, outdoor courtyard, and large social spaces. It aims to feel more like a home than a hospital, encouraging residents to stay active and engaged with a variety of activities and social interactions. Most residents are quite independent, and family members often find it easy to visit and spend quality time.
Many families praise the friendly staff, especially noting their helpfulness, kindness, and commitment to residents’ happiness. They appreciate the consistent team of caregivers and the attention given to the residents, often mentioning the good food and the care provided to their loved ones. Families also mention feeling comfortable and grateful for the warm environment.
However, reviews also reveal some serious concerns. One detailed negative review describes a heartbreaking experience with a loved one who was transferred to Palmcrest and then treated unfairly due to a fall risk. The family details administrative failures, poor communication, lack of compassion, and a traumatic transfer process that resulted in excessive distress for the resident and family. They felt the facility was neglectful, inhumane, and lacking the dignity every elderly person deserves. Many professionals in healthcare also expressed shock at how the situation was handled, highlighting a significant incident that tarnishes the community's reputation.
Overall, Palmcrest Grand Residence is praised for its beautiful, clean environment and good care for residents who are independent or do not require intensive medical assistance. But a major incident involving mistreatment and poor handling of a resident with dementia shows that, despite many positive aspects, there are serious issues that some families and professionals believe need to be addressed.

The home is always clean and orderly whenever I visit. The residents all look happy and are treated well and with dignity. The staff are all really friendly and cannot do enough to help. The activities are really suited to the residents and always seem to be fun. Everybody is so personable, so it feels like one big family. I love that Morris is so welcoming and has personal relationships with all patients and their families.
This is a fantastic facility! Just love the staff, the ambiance, the caregivers, everything! We placed my father in law there almost two months ago, and we just love the way they take excellent care of him. It's nice to see the same people. Not much turnover. One person who makes everything go smoothly is Erin the director. She is the absolute best. She is so great with the staff, residents and she makes everyone feel special. I can go to her with any type of question, and she always returns her calls, and makes herself available to assist. We look forward to the holidays, as they have so many activities for the residents. Thank you!
After years of trying to take care of her partner at home, my mom finally accepted she could not give him the care he needs. His dementia is progressing and he has had a couple of accidents. This is heartbreaking for her. But once he was accepted to Palmcrest she knew it was the right decision. He had fallen a couple of times, most recently this past July, and ended up in a rehab for recovery. This is important for this review. Palmcrest is a beautiful facility. It felt clean and modern, bright and well maintained. The residents were interacting and seemed happy. The memory care area is secure and seemed like it was going to be a great fit for “John”. Instead it was a nightmare. John was transferred from another facility...after a fall. He was assessed at that facility by a woman from Palmcrest who approved him for transfer. She physically saw him, reviewed his condition, spoke with him, and yet overlooked the neon yellow bracelet that says “FALL RISK”. John was medically transported to Palmcrest (Paid for out of pocket) around 10:00AM on 7/25. By 3:00 that same day we were told he would not be allowed to stay and he would need to be out of the facility that night. That night! The lead administrator told us that the owner would not allow for him to stay as a resident because he is a fall risk. A fall risk! I repeat that because that was in his file from the beginning. There was a bright neon bracelet telling them that during his assessment. He was in rehab due to a fall. Of course he is a fall risk. I’m not even sure I can articulate how hard it is to watch a loved one with dementia being treated that way. We had nowhere to take him. One Admin member, Mary, did try to call many other facilities and find a placement, but we had hours to move him. Hours to figure out Medicare acceptance, memory care ability, and find local arrangements. That day we spent hours trying to get him comfortable after the transfer, only to have to traumatize him again. The lead admin's attitude and lack of communication were appalling. We were told that they could transfer John to Los Angeles community hospital. That was the solution offered. We even asked if we could pay out of pocket for the rest of the night so we could figure out where to go. Admin said that we could hire a “sitter” out of pocket but she didn’t known of any locally. She said she hadn’t even reviewed his file until then and if she known earlier she would not have approved his as a resident. She behaved as though that was John’s fault. The multiple administrative failures that created this chaos were egregious and incompetent. After hours of tears and phone calls the decision was made to take him home. To a two story house. In my car. No one offered to help with arranging transport or even checked in on John. In fact, after his initial assessment not one person ever looked in on him. My boyfriend sat with him for the hours it took us trying to find a new place. He sat with John trying to calm him through the confusion and not one person ever checked in. (Jesse did bring in a dinner tray though. So, thank you!) Having to move a loved one into a facility is never easy, even when it is one as nice as Palmcrest, but Palmcrest made it Hell. It was unnecessarily cruel, thoughtless, and inhumane. I can’t speak to the long term care of Palmcrest. It really does seem like a clean facility and there aren’t many out there. Trust me, we looked at many. One more thing to note...every single doctor, memory care facility, and Home Health nurse we have spoken to since have been equally appalled by Palmcrest’s treatment of the situation. Not just on a medical and professional level, but a simple human level. Our elderly and vulnerable loved ones deserve dignity and respect. John was shown neither.
We moved our mom Rosita to this facility and everything is working well for her. Mary, Veronica, Peggy and the rest of the staff are very nice and accommodating. There are times that they are very busy and if you try to understand their situation, it's also overwhelming. The place is clean, they have different programs for elderly and our Mom seems to enjoy. The food is good as well and when we bring food for Rosita she doesn't eat it as she really loves the food that they prepare. The staffs are very nice to her as well and takes care of her well including the care givers. We celebrated Rosita's birthday 2 months ago and the staff helped us prepare the area and provided drinks and utensils. In my two weeks of stay and visiting Rosita. I learned to like everyone and built a good relationships with the staff. I love this place and very blessed that we found PalmCrest as a new home for our Mom. Thank you to all the staff at PalmCrest for taking care of Rosita. Very much appreciated!
My dad has been here for 6 months, and he has adjusted so well to this new environment. I never thought he would be happy living in a facility like this, and I am so grateful to all the staff for everything they do for him. The building is clean and always smells good. Palmcrest is the finest facility of its kind and I recommend it to anyone looking for a safe, secure, and unique nursing home that truly cares about its patients and their families.
