Silverado Beverly Place

Silverado Beverly Place is a memory care community in Los Angeles, close to Santa Monica and Beverly Hills. It is dedicated to helping people with dementia and other memory issues. The community has three different neighborhoods to care for residents at various stages of their illness. All staff are specially trained and certified in dementia care, with 40 hours of education and hands-on practice. There are doctors, nurses, and social workers on site around the clock to provide support and medical care.

Silverado focuses on both clinical quality and making residents comfortable. They offer unique programs like Nexus, an internationally recognized brain health program that uses non-drug methods to improve cognition, especially in early stages of dementia. They also have The Loft, a special neighborhood that encourages an active, brain-healthy lifestyle for residents with early-stage dementia.

The community is known for its engaging activities, including animal therapy, where residents interact with goats, alpacas, turtles, and guinea pigs. Families often feel reassured and grateful for the high level of care and attention provided by staff who genuinely love and understand the residents. Many families share that Silverado has improved their loved ones' happiness and quality of life, and that choosing Silverado earlier could have eased their own caregiving burden.

Reviews highlight that Silverado staff are caring, attentive, and responsive. Families appreciate the warm environment where residents are engaged in activities, celebrate holidays, and form meaningful connections. Some note that once families see how well their loved ones are doing, they wish they had moved them in sooner. Families also mention feeling relief and peace of mind, knowing their loved ones are in capable hands, which allows the family members to rest and return to their roles as loved ones, not just caregivers.

Overall, Silverado Beverly Place is praised for its innovative approaches, compassionate staff, and focus on residents' happiness and dignity. While the community is highly regarded, the only challenge noted is that there are no current scheduled events or activities, which may vary over time. Families considering Silverado can feel confident that their loved ones will receive specialized, respectful memory care tailored to their needs.

-Stay with me as this is extremely heartfelt. I was not paid or buttered up to do this review. I chose to do it. I believe all families deserve to know these things. -I toured many facilities before selecting Silverado. I actually didn’t know about silverado until later on. We were in denial that we needed memory care as soon as we did. -Ok, Are there fancy senior communities with movie theatres and high end restaurant style dining rooms and large rooms? Yes. Absolutely! -Well, Silverado is like a HOME. It’s not fancy, like a full service hotel, and giant rooms with kitchens. Why? Well, first off, in memory care, It is a safety issue with kitchens, and you don’t even need them. And second, the residents are fed and are able to have snacks anytime. They don’t need fancy. They are cared for with compassion. -When You walk into Silverado, you will see staff smiling and communicating with residents. You will see love and emotions. You will see a dog or two running around. At Silverado, your loved one will be joining a family. Not a country club. They will have access to the whole place. They can go inside and outside whenever they want. They are not locked in a hallway, like many other communities. (The communities where there are multiple levels of care). The residents at Silverado will be known as, John, who loves/loved woodworking, or Janet, who was a music teacher with 8 great grandchildren. Your family member will be living in a HOME where residents and staff are made priorities. Having staff as a priority, means, they will feel valued and appreciated. They provide excellent care. One way they are made priority is through the Dementia Education Training that is provided to every, single staff member. Yup. All job titles! Everyone interacts with residents, so everyone deserves education, and the residents deserve that too. This type of education is not a common benefit in many senior communities. Why is this training useful? Well, this allows staff to better understand all types of dementia, and the best ways to communicate and interact with families and residents. This helps everyone, including the residents. This helps residents transition much more quickly when they join Silverado! -So ask yourself. Do you want to bring your family member to a fancy hotel that locks up their memory care residents in a hallway? Oh….i know, That movie theatre sure is tempting…OR -Do you want your family member to join a community that is a HOME. That feels like a warm and welcoming home. Staff that understands brain challenges. Animals that run around. Where they can go explore inside and outside. Where they are known as people and not a diagnosis. Not as “Mark with behaviors” but he is known as Mark, who is a retired police officer, who just lost his dog before moving in. And guess what? Silverado actually requires a certain amount of pets, and Marks eyes light up now, because he enjoys the company of one of the dogs there. It is like home. So why take those things away? -If you’ve read this far, thank you. I want to share why i say all of this: I am a Board Certified Geriatric RN, and am Nationally Certified as a Dementia Educator and Trainer. So, needless to say, my expectations are extremely high. Extremely. I pulled my family member out of a “fancy” place due to lack of education of the staff, staff turnaround, and the inability to understand that “behaviors” are due to an UNMET NEED and not because of “Dementia.” She was treated like a disease and not like a person. At silverado, our family was nervous about the “behaviors” and Silverado reassured us that she will NOT have those behaviors after a few weeks. Well, that was true!! It was amazing and has been ever Since. Their staff is compassionate and understands Dementia, and knows the person for who they are. -In communities, Think about the location of the memory care area. Ask staff what they do if a resident (not in the memory unit) has “behaviors?” If they say anything except trying to figure out what the “need” of the resident is, run away. Or don’t. It’s your call.

There are a lot of positives about Silverado Beverly Place. The staff is phenomenal both for the resident and the family of the resident. The caregivers, in particular, are attentive, caring and supportive. The food is delicious and healthful. And they allow dogs and cats, who always generate a ton of smiles and laughs. I also love that Silverado is within walking distance of Canter's and Joe & Vinny's, making going out an easy diversion. I highly recommend Silverado Beverly Place.

To walk in and see my family member so happy and content every time I visit her makes me realize I made the right decision to move them to Silverado Beverly Place! I know she is in good hands and I trust the staff. I'm always happy to recommend Silverado BP whenever someone asks about a memory care place.

We have owned and operated a senior placement agency in the greater Los Angeles area for the last 8 years. We offer a free service to families to identify the best assisted living options for their loved ones. Our reputation is always on the line if we recommend a place that doesn't work out. Silverado Beverly Place consistently provides the highest level of care and activities and engages their resident's minds and bodies daily. What makes them unique is that they have programs and living areas for people with all levels of dementia and Alzheimer's as well as those who are still alert and lucid. The team atmosphere of the staff adds to the environment giving the people who live there the best chance of thriving. We give a big thumbs up to Silverado Beverly Place!

Silverado Beverly Place is wonderful! The staff is so friendly and caring and kind. I appreciate them so much. My husband always gets enrichment when he goes there for the day. They have tons of activities and music and drum fit. It's a great place for dementia and Alzheimer's care. I am truly grateful for everyone there and I feel that my husband is well cared for while there and happy. Thank you to everyone at Silverado Beverly Place for taking such good care of him!
