Pasadena Highlands

I always love walking into Pasadena Highlands. The staff is consistently warm, welcoming, and truly makes me feel appreciated as a partner in patient care. As a hospice provider with Alleviate Care Hospice, I work closely with their team, and I genuinely value how effectively and proactively they communicate when caring for their residents. Kay, Adrienne, Marie, Sylvia, Cynthia, Jeanine, and Elizabeth are absolutely amazing. Their dedication, professionalism, and compassion make a real difference, not just for the residents, but for the families and partners who support them as well.

My mother (Mollie) was fiercely independent at 98 years old, but Mollie had taken a couple of falls, and it was time for assisted living. I thank God every day that we found Pasadena Highlands for Mollie as it was absolutely perfect in every respect. The social element gave Mollie new life as she put on her pearls and hat to "have lunch with the girls" every day. She had her favorite pancakes and coffee every morning and Highlands provided everything Mollie needed in every respect. We turned to Highlands for increased care as her health faded and ultimately to hospice for the end of her life at Highlands. Highlands became family to her and to us, and I do not have words to express the gratitude that we all have. The Caregivers and entire team are world class. My recognition and grateful thanks especially to Kay Cano, Marie Ann Brooks, Cynthia Leon, Maria Alarcon and Adrienne Hurd for their leadership in this exceptional community. Thank you to Marina and the entire front office staff and to Krystal and all the caregivers. Nothing can take away all the worry about an aging parent, but we had great peace in knowing that Highlands could handle anything that might arise. I do not know how we would have made it through without Pasadena Highlands. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My mother resided at Pasadena Highlands for over 11 years until she passed recently. The nursing care has been wonderful, and the dedication by the nurses has been exceptional. They showed my mother love, gentleness, kindness, and the utmost respect. Although, Pasadena Highlands is a huge facility, all the nurses knew my mother's name and a lot about her. They knew my name as well and always, with such warmth, said hi to me and took the time to ask how I was doing. The evening my mother passed away, I followed the transporter with my mom out of the building, and when I returned to go back inside, 2 nurses were standing outside waiting for me, and when I entered the building again, a circle of more nurses surrounded me with the most compassionate, warm embraces. I can't even begin to express what that meant to me at that moment and throughout the grieving process, thinking of such amazing kindness, love, support, and compassion shown to me. I described it to the director of Pasadena Highlands, as the most beautiful, magical Christmas movie. The Pasadena Highlands nurses represent the best of the best in loving care!

After living at Pasadena Highlands for three years, I can confidently say it is much more than just a place to reside—it is a vibrant community that supports and enriches my life as an independent resident with a chronic health condition. The scenic views and biodiversity provide a peaceful, relaxing environment. Whether I’m photographing wildlife in the garden or enjoying my balcony, the natural beauty enhances my well-being. Location & Accessibility: Located in the heart of Pasadena, the community offers easy access to shopping, medical appointments, museums, botanical gardens, theaters, restaurants, and more. The transportation service is invaluable for residents who no longer drive, allowing us to stay active and engaged with the broader community. Activities & Engagement: There is never a dull moment at Pasadena Highlands. Residents can choose from fitness classes, arts and crafts, social events, the garden club, and group outings. Activities are planned to meet the diverse interests of the community, and participation is always optional—no pressure, just opportunities to connect and enjoy. Supportive Services: Knowing that supportive services are available brings peace of mind. Maintenance, housekeeping, transportation, and assistance with daily tasks are provided by staff who go above and beyond for residents. This support makes life seamless for both independent residents and those needing extra care. Living at Pasadena Highlands has enriched my life in countless ways. The combination of a friendly community, beautiful surroundings, comfortable living spaces, convenient location, engaging activities, and supportive services makes it an ideal place to call home. I am grateful for the experiences and connections I have made and look forward to many more years of support as I age in place.

ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS IN LIFE IS TO REACH THE AGE OF, LET’S JUST SAY, 75+. THINGS START CHANGING, STARTING WITH THE CHALLENGE TO DO OR MANEUVER QUITE THE WAY YOU ONCE COULD. FOR OUR FAMILY, THAT’S WHERE PASADENA HIGHLANDS CAME (AND CONTINUES TO COME) IN. WAS IT EASY – ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! WAS IT A GOOD MOVE – ABSOLUTELY!!!!! UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF KAY CANO, SHE AND HER STAFF PROVIDE OUR AUNT (A RESIDENT FOR OVER 13 YEARS) AND OUR PARENTS (RESIDENTS FOR OVER 4 YEARS) WITH A WONDERFUL ENVIRONMENT. FROM A FAMILY MEMBER WHO WAS LOOKING FOR THE BEST PLACE TO ACCOMMODATE OUR LOVED ONES, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PASADENA HIGHLANDS TO ANYONE CONTEMPLATING A MOVE TO A SENIOR-LIVING COMMUNITY.
