We toured this facility for my mother-in-law last year and because she wasn't ready to move in, we placed ourselves on the waitlist. Sam, the director, was a big draw for us. He was so welcoming, warm and genuinely cared for everyone there. Watching him interact with the residents there really comforted us, knowing that if my mother-in-law moved in, we knew that Sam and staff would take care of her. He truly is amazing and a huge factor in why we would choose this place over others. The facility itself was nice, clean and some of the rooms had amazing views of the mountains. Ultimately, my mother-in-law decided that she didn't want to move out of the only home she ever knew, but if she changed her mind, I would be calling Sam.
What a wonderful home for Mom! Most of you reading this are likely in the same situation as I was in. Mom lived in her Downey home for 50 years and wanted to stay there forever. Unfortunately, after a car accident, she fell down a few times during the night, unable to get herself up. We knew it was time to find her a senior living location. My sister went on a hunt; after many tours—some she just walked out because they smelled so bad or looked horrible—she found TPM. It is an oasis nestled next to the Eaton Canyon Reserve which neighbors on both sides. Don’t let Washington Blvd. scare you away as TPM has its own long driveway leading way in the back. Go tour this place! Sam Baum is an amazing, loving, patient man who made the move significantly easier for my mom who was appalled at the idea of moving. She has lived in her own apartment for a year and a half now. Mom is the ambassador at TPM, introducing new residents around to all the activities and facilities including a hair salon and manicurist on-site. The menu is awesome! It is like a cruise ship with the regular items and specials of the day. My family of four just went today for breakfast. Any options you want, they deliver. Mom says the staff is very loving, always taking care of her needs. They have many apartment layouts depending on what you need. TPM has a pendant system, so if you fall or press the button it alerts the staff. Just last week Mom fell in the dark, knocking herself out. The staff was there in 5 minutes and rushed her to Huntington Memorial. Had this been at her home the results could have been life-ending. God Bless to all who work at TPM!
My Mom has been lovingly, comfortably and safely at The Terraces at Park Marino for 3 years now. In our first meeting with Sam Baum, the Community Relations Director, he said. "We love our residents in". That's the truth. The care and compassion my mom receives on a daily basis is comforting. Since the beginning Sam worked with us on a special diet for my mom. They treat all their residents like family. The staff at the front desk and in the dining room know the residents by name. Sam swings by my mom's room and picks her up for social events that he knows she enjoys but may not remember to make it there herself. My mom has serious memory issues and Sam, Dana and the entire staff are skilled at managing her special needs as they continue to change. My sister and I feel blessed that we found The Terraces.
My mother has been living at The Terraces at Park Marino for 8 months now. She is not a person who is easy to please, but she LOVES her new home. Her apartment is bright and friendly and the whole facility is really warm and welcoming. The little garden in the back has a walking path, which makes for an easy still with a walker. From there you have a beautiful mountain view, as it sits right next to the Eaton Canyon wash. Sam, who is the director of the place, is a wonderful man who makes all the tenants feel special and welcome. All the staff is very caring and accommodating, I have nothing but positive things to say about this facility. It feels like home away from home with its coziness.
The Terraces, nestled in a safe area of the community, has been a great resource for assisted living. Staff is caring and the facilities are beautiful and do not feel institutional. Special events are regularly planned, opportunities to visit with loved ones in an outdoor setting with spectacular views are uplifting, and the genuine concern expressed by staff is so appreciated. The Terraces is a friendly place where seniors can still embrace their individualism and families are respected and welcomed. It is very evident that staff are happy....and that is essential to the any caregiving environment. Thank you for the wonderful support on a very long caregiving journey.
