The Terraces in Via Verde is a great place for loved ones in need of help special care due to Dementia and Alzheimer needs. Along with the many activities available to help with overall health, their dietary needs provided are fantastic. Meals prepared by Head Chef Ovillio and his kitchen staff are exceptionally thoughtful. Delicious and nutritionally beneficial, our mother enjoys dining in the dining room and often asks for seconds. She especially enjoys festive meals associated with the holidays and family favorite dishes we've requested. Visitors able to dine with our mom are also impressed with Chef Ovillio's offerings. Thank you, Terraces... for bringing his expertise to our mother's new home.
When my mom needed a memory care facility, I toured and visited so many. It was very upsetting to see some of these places. It really felt like the elderly are being disregarded. The affordable ones were not great (that’s putting it kindly) and the nicer ones were not affordable at all. Some of these places felt like you were in a hospital or mental institution. There’s no such thing as a perfect memory care facility, but this place makes a solid effort. I moved my mom here about a month ago and I’m so happy with this choice. My mom is thriving and every time I visit her she’s so happy. She’s laughing all the time and engages in all the activities. The staff has told me on many occasions how much they love my mom. They have been so welcoming, kind and listen to any concerns I have regarding my mom. Special staff shoutout to Oscar, Anne, Nicole, OV, Mary, Maria and Kelly.
Moving to The Terraces was the best decision I could ever make for my dad with his Alzheimer's disease. The staff are kind, empathetic, caring, attentive, responsive, helpful, thoughtful, actively involved daily with the residence, supportive, and innovative in their approach to daily activities and living with memory care issues. Their targeted programs really bring out the best in each resident, and it brings great comfort to the families knowing that they are truly in a hands of individuals who are experts in dealing with memory care issues. The doctor was going to increase my dad's medication because of behavioral issues at his prior memory care community. Once he moved to The Terraces, it turned out the medication didn't need to be changed, he just needed to be more engaged and provider with more directed care. He's doing amazing and The doctor determined that the medication didn't need to be changed at all! Now that was a blessing! He didn't need to be more medicated, he just needed to be engaged and given proper attention and care. Big difference!!!!
The staff at the Terraces are amazing! Esther has really taken great care of our Aunt and communicates with us to give us updates as needed. Oscar has been there for us from day one. He has been thoughtful and kind and helped our family navigate the process of getting our loved one the care she needed. Thank you
Ok, I’ve waited a few days to post this review, but after reading the 3 reviews before this, they are suspect at best. All made around the same time, and very little real info. We moved my mom into the Terraces, almost a year ago. When we first moved her in there, it seemed really nice, loving and dignified. The management and caregivers, really cared, and showed my Mother, so much love, and care. The place was clean, upbeat, and fun for the residence in their care. It stayed that way for about 8 months, and then suddenly, the executive director was fired, and shortly after that, the nurse on staff. I don’t know why and can’t speak to that, but both of them were very loving, and really cared about the residents. About 2 months later, Agemark brought in a new executive director, and that director brought in their own staff nurse. Suddenly, caregivers and staff members, were getting let go, or quitting in droves. All these fun, loving, and really caring people, were being replaced by people, that were just there to earn a paycheck. All the care, and love, that the residents were used to, was replaced with glorified baby sitters. I literally took a picture of 2 caregivers, sitting at a table, staring at their phones, while the residents were left on their own. Another time, a resident, who was in a wheel chair, had got up, and walked into the activity room, and fell and fractured her arm. All 3 caregivers on the floor, were in the elevator room, laughing about something. I literally had to scream for them, to come and help her. Some of the residents are left dirty and sitting in their own filth. There is also one resident that is hyper-aggressive and had literally attacked a few of the residents, and even 2 of the residents family members. This of course was reported to the executive director, who just said he has dementia, and there was nothing that could be done. He, should not be in this facility, and should be somewhere that he and others can be safe. The place has become very dirty and the cleaning has not been kept up. There are missing moldings, the curtains around the windows in the hallway were all taken down, and not replaced. The carpets all have spots, and the floor in the dining area, is sticky to walk on. I decided to call Agemark corporate, and let them know about the issues. They had no knowledge of any problems in the facility. Apparently, they were never reported. I also talked to the state, and found out that there are 2 open cases being investigated. We pay to have our relatives, cared for, with dignity and love, and under this new administration that has been replaced, and now it’s all about the money. Luckily for us, we found a great new place, and moved my mom out of the Terraces. If you want your relative to be taken care of with care and dignity, then perhaps you will want to look elsewhere. I’m not saying that everything at the Terraces was horrible. There are some highlights: O.V. the chef, is amazing. He cooks with love, and makes sure that the residents, eat well. Some of the caregivers are there for the right reasons, and do care for the residents, and show them love. They are just overwhelmed, most of the time, and are treated badly, by the new management. This is a memory care facility, and most of the residents, need to be cared for with extra patience and love. They don’t understand why they are there, and when I see caregivers getting annoyed or mad at residents, it just makes me sad for them and their families.
