Many reviews and information about Ivy Park at Tustin show that it is a friendly and caring community. The staff is often praised for being kind, professional, and dedicated to residents. The community has a warm, home-like atmosphere with beautiful outdoor areas, which makes residents and visitors feel comfortable and relaxed. Leaders like the Executive Director Bryan and team members like Antonio are highlighted for their caring nature and willingness to go above and beyond.
However, some reviews mention problems too. A family expressed frustration that their father's care was not enough, especially with medication timings and long waits for assistance. There were concerns about staff being overworked and frequent staff turnover, which sometimes hurt the quality of care. Food quality and meal times also received criticism, with some residents not liking the food and mealtimes being short and early, which was hard for late risers. There were also issues with dietary restrictions not being consistently followed.
Overall, the community is seen as warm and well-led, with many people recommending it for its caring staff and lovely environment. Still, some families feel that operations could improve, especially in staffing, meal service, and personalized care. Despite these concerns, Ivy Park at Tustin is considered a beautiful and caring place where residents can enjoy a fulfilling life with a lot of supportive services.

I believe my father needed more care than they were able to give. A few items of note: Staff is not permitted to give medications at the dining table, so any medications that were to be given with meals were late -- sometimes very late. That alone would have been a deal-breaker, had we known the policy. Dad sometimes had to wait a long time for assistance. While the staff were caring and nice, they seemed overworked and short staffed. The aides also have to wait tables in the dining room, which leaves them little time to help wheel-chair bound residents get ready for meals. Also of note, there seemed to be quite a turnover of staff during the past year. There was little help with dietary restrictions -- dad was frequently served items that he was not supposed to eat. Many of the residents complained that the food was not good -- it did not seem to be a priority. Mealtimes are extremely early and short and the kitchen closes very early. It was a very difficult adjustment for a late riser. They try to provide food during off-times, but it's not freshly made. On the positive side, dad did enjoy the activities -- particularly the music, and the "field trips." I did see many residents working on puzzles and playing games. It's also a very small place, which meant that a staff member was usually fairly close by. Having regular physical therapy onsite was also a plus. Their intent may have been good, but the execution was not great -- overall pretty frustrating for our family. And very expensive....
