13250 Philadelphia Street, Whittier, CA 90601
Many reviews praise Brookdale Uptown Whittier for providing caring and compassionate service. Several families mention that the staff is respectful, attentive, and treats residents like family. Caregivers and nurses are described as professional, kind, and dedicated, often going above and beyond to make residents comfortable. Families also appreciate the social environment, where residents form friendships and enjoy activities. In difficult times, such as when residents needed hospice care, staff responded with kindness and support, helping residents feel safe and respected.
However, there are some serious concerns expressed by one family. They report poor food quality, with cold meals and strange combinations. They also mention neglect, such as staff rarely taking their dog out despite paying extra for this service, which led to accidents and unpleasant odors in the apartment. The same family states that there is a roach problem that has not been addressed even after reporting it to management. This has caused frustration and disappointment, especially considering the amount of money residents pay.
Overall, many reviews highlight a community with caring staff and positive experiences. But a few families have faced issues with cleanliness, food, and staff responsiveness, which tarnish the overall impression. While most seem satisfied with the care, the negative reviews remind potential residents to consider both the caring atmosphere and the importance of proper maintenance and service quality.

I did a tour of this facility for a family member and the facility is warm and spacious. The inviting lobby features charming touches like a parakeet aviary and well maintained fish tank. Very friendly and inviting and i am strongly considering it as we are assessing facilities. The staff is dedicated and attentive. The residents genuinely seem happy and the facility is within walking distance to local dining, nearby parks and trail systems. The neighborhood has a welcoming vibe. Very pleased with this place!
Brookdale Uptown Whittier has high quality cleanliness, quality of care and management team. I have a loved one there for the past 3 months and they are doing so well. Highly recommended!
My family member resides at Uptown Brookdale and at first the facility ran well but over the last few months the food quality served is unacceptable, they will serve cold food and combinations on the menu Spaghetti with beans? My family member has been battling cancer so she pays extra to have her dog walked but staff rarely comes to take dog out which has caused her dog to relieve herself on carpet and floors. Now the apartment smells bad and the apartment is infested with roaches. The manager has been notified yet nothing is done to resolve the issue. For the amount of money that the residents pay this is just unacceptable. I wouldn't recommend this facility at all.
The building is completely infested with roaches, and there's only one working elevator, which sounds like it's on its way out. The caregivers are nice, but the infestation and the building's disrepair is totally unacceptable given how much they're charging residents. California Department of Social Services has inspected them several times for these issues and given management warnings. If you have the option to move your loved ones somewhere else, do it.
The facility was clean and smelled good and the staff were responsive and caring. I was very satisfied having my loved one in your care for the past year and I am very happy with the care.
