Many residents and families have mixed experiences at Brookdale Deer Creek. Several reviews praise the friendly staff, especially caregivers like Tyce, Michael, Kim, Laverne, Evelyn, and T, who are described as caring, kind, and attentive. Families feel reassured knowing staff are responsive, helpful, and emotional support is available. The community offers a warm, welcoming environment with nice amenities, including organized activities and a strong focus on resident engagement.
However, some reviews highlight significant problems. Multiple complaints mention poor cleanliness, with strong odors and uncleaned rooms, especially after residents pass away. There are reports of broken doors and a lack of respect for residents, with accusations of aggressive treatment and food that seemed unsafe, with some residents experiencing food poisoning or worse. One review mentions a substantial rent increase of $200 within the first year, which upset residents and families. Theft and lack of recourse are also noted as issues.
On the positive side, residents and families appreciate improvements in leadership and recent efforts to enhance care, which have increased their trust. Quick and effective responses to concerns, such as a call about a resident late at night, show some staff dedication. The community’s website emphasizes luxurious amenities, personalized care, 24/7 staff availability, and various activities designed to improve residents’ quality of life.
Overall, Brookdale Deer Creek is praised for its caring staff and nice living environment but also faces criticism for cleanliness, safety, and management issues. Families considering this community should weigh the friendly atmosphere and improvements against the serious concerns raised in some reviews.

I have a parent here and I'm growing more and more concerned. Said parent is difficult, I get how challenging it can be. But to be fair, he has dementia. They're perfectly fine with leaving him to writher in pain all night, unable to get up to use the restroom, eat, or be given pain medication. I watch on a nanny cam how they talk to him. I call all night trying to get someone on the phone to go check on him (I'm out of state), and there's no answer. When they come, they're rude, aggressive - and when he gets like he gets (not easy, I get it), they just leave him to fend for himself and NEVER COME BACK TO CHECK ON HIM! Not one person has had a calming, kind, or caring bed side manner or disposition. And most of them have a thick accent he can't understand, so they yell at him the same phrase that he's not able to pick up instead of trying to find another way to create a communication line. It's certainly possible to do that. I've traveled the world, and there's just many respectful ways to handle language barriers. They just don't care. It's so blatant how little disrespect they have for the elderly. If you put your parent here, you'll have to be very diligent and keep an eye on them.
To tell you the truth I felt terrible suggesting assisted living to my mom but when she arrived we were greeted by Tyce who made her feel so special he truly is an asset to the company. Along with Michael they explained the process to my husband and I and we were sold. My mom loves the place and I can’t thank the employees enough for their kindness and smiles. My mom has lived at brookdale for one year and she is so happy there. I will mention the key employes that I have interacted with that are truly an asset to the community they would be Tyse,Michael, nance, patricia, vanessa,Wayne the dining manager is so kind to my mother along with the entire dining staff so patient with the residents and shavon always helps me and can’t forget nick and Andrew. Having such a wonderful staff puts my mind at ease as she is given the best care at brookdale. I also referred my aunt Janet O’Brien to the facility and she is moving in shortly. Kudos to Brookdale🌺
My Mom was a resident for the last several months. We relocated her from NY upon our return to Florida. Initially it was an adjustment since she was in ALF in NY for 4 years. However after a brief period our experience with Brookdale blossomed. The love and compassion we felt from the caregivers...in particular Kim,Laverne ,Evelyn and Daioula provided a great source of comfort especially for me as a very devoted daughter. The Wellness Director...Maddie was very attentive to Mom especially when she needed some support/encouragement. The LPNs were always there when Mom wasn't feeling well. The Activities Director ..T came in every day to encourage Mom to participate in activities....and T was genuinely happy when Mom attended. Wayne in the Dining Hall always had a big warm smile for us. Shavonna and Vanessa ...thanks for tolerating my constant phone calls and doing whatever I needed for Mom. Most importantly thank you to the above mentioned team for the frequent emotional support you gave me in my many difficult moments..Without a doubt you were all con corned about my mental state during a difficult time. Oh yeah....and you throw a great Happy Hour and theme parties. Thank you all so very much.
My father was here for a year. His experience was professional and caring. I had moved him here from another facility where he had experienced some elder abuse and this facility was a breathe of fresh air. Unfortunately his situation has severely deteriorated to where he needs skilled nursing, but the staff at Brookdale Deer Creek were exceptional. Thank you!
Would give negative stars if I could. Failure to respond when you have complaints sent via emails, nursing staff don't follow up with doctor instructions for residents. I even spoke to individuals about situation they did not call back to let me know what was happening. They could not even provide information on owners of facility and they are in management. I have my father in law at facility and he has brain cancer. We have missed two appointments due to failure of staff to follow up with instructions I presented to them via paperwork from the oncologist and my verbal instructions. Will be following up with report to the Better Business Bureau as well.
