275 South Peace Haven Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104
People who have family members at Brookdale Winston-Salem often feel positive about the care and support there. Many residents, especially those with dementia or Alzheimer’s, benefit from a safe, home-like environment with trained staff available 24/7. Families appreciate the compassionate staff who encourage social activities, helping residents stay engaged and happy. Some reviews note that residents become more social and active, and families feel reassured that their loved ones are well cared for.
However, some families have had negative experiences. One review describes a difficult transition where staff seemed overwhelmed and unable to handle a resident with more challenging needs. This resident was hospitalized shortly after moving in and quickly removed from the facility. The family also mentions costly fees and unkind interactions from staff during the move-out process. They suggest that Brookdale may not be suitable for residents with difficult behavior, unlike other facilities where families felt more welcomed and supported.
In summary, reviews highlight that Brookdale Winston-Salem can be a good place for residents who are able to adapt well to the environment, with caring staff who promote activity and social engagement. But for residents with more complex needs or challenging behaviors, some families warn that the facility may struggle to meet their needs and that the experience could be less positive. Overall, it is important for families to consider their loved one’s specific needs when choosing this community.

My mom has been at Brookdale for a month now and it has been a very positive experience for her. She is well cared for and encouraged to participate in all of the activities they offer. She has been very happy and more social than ever.
The staff at Brookdale took great care of my husband during his stay. I knew by their actions and expressions that they genuinely cared for him as well as me. When people ask if I would recommend Brookdale, I give a resounding yes. Placing a loved one in a facility is hard. But after seeing some of the pictures of my husband and staff, I knew he was in the right place. He knew everyone there, and they all knew him. He was well taken care of and loved.
My mother has been a resident at Brookdale for several years. The staff is always friendly and welcoming when I go. It is always bright and cheerful. I am pleased with the care she is receiving there. I would highly recommend Brookdale if you are looking for a place for your loved one.
My mother has been a resident for over three years now. Even though she is progressing through this horrible disease it has been made somewhat easier having the wonderful staff at Brookdale to help us each step of the way. I am very thankful for all of them.
This was not a good fit for my mother because she had a difficult transition. They seemed overwhelmed by her distress and she was sent to the hospital (and removed from the facility) within 5 days. We were told they couldn't handle her. We had to pay so many fees - resulting in almost 2 months payment for less than a week. On the day we moved her out of Brookdale, the staff seemed angry and barely looked at us. No one asked about us or her -- how we were doing, where we had landed. My mother lives in another memory care facility where we were immediately welcomed - and assured that my mother behaved like typical dementia patients. She has had no problems there. I would not recommend this facility if your loved one is not docile. Other than one nurse, who was great, the staff made an already difficult transition so much worse.
