They reported issues like uncleanliness, bugs, missing items, and medications not being given on time. They also mentioned that the food was bland and the laundry service was inadequate. This negative review suggests that the overall quality of care and facility cleanliness may be inconsistent.
In contrast, many reviews emphasize the staff’s compassion and professionalism. The leadership team, especially the Executive Director Daniel, is described as knowledgeable and caring, dedicating himself to residents’ well-being.

It offers private apartments, delicious meals, fitness activities, and convenient services like housekeeping and transportation, all aimed at helping residents enjoy a full and vibrant lifestyle.
Overall, Brookdale Watauga has a strong reputation for caring staff and active community life but has also faced criticism regarding cleanliness and maintenance. Prospective residents and families should weigh these strengths and concerns carefully when considering the community.

We have experienced such loving care from all of the Brookdale Watauga caretakers. They have helped my Grandad adjust to his new living environment and made him feel right at home. My Grandad has enjoyed the dining room and BINGO. He looks forward exercise class each day too. We highly recommend Brookdale Watauga.
The good.. Lena, Maryanne, and Virginia are awesome! The bad....everything else! Just recently moved my mom out after 1 & half yrs. Brookedale is old, dirty, and feels like an old nursing home from the 1980's. Housekeeping was terrible. Practically nonexistent. Laundry was awful. Clothes came back wrinkled and unwearable. The food, for the most part was bland and not good. Dead bugs in mom's room. Spiderwebs in the hallways. Some residents complained that items went missing from their rooms. Medications not given at proper times. The list is unending. Mom is now at a new facility that is less expensive, but is the Ritz Carlton compared to Brookdale!! I would never recommend Brookdale Watauga to anyone!
The staff are great, the facility is a little older but nice. Primary care, podiatrist and other medical testing comes to the resident on-site. Based on my parent’s needs and my interactions, I would recommend.
The staff at the facility is wonderful, compassionate and truly cared for my mom. The director not so much. If your loved one is near the end of life, move them out asap. It is a money grab at that point. My bill increased 2k a month for services she didn’t truly receive. I was billed for in room food service, but as my mom stopped eating, so I was billed for them leaving her food in the room. I was billed for hygiene services, but hospice came in to provide those services. When I was told of these increases I told them she could no longer afford the 2k increase on top of the $400 annual increase, I will move her into my home. The tone changed from compassion for my mom to guilt/fear tactics. “ if you move her she will decline quicker”, “ you don’t want your little one to see her pass in your home”. When I moved her out not so much as a good bye, hope she does well, nothing. Not even a check in to see how’s she’s doing. On top of that I was still billed 6k after I moved out and provided a 30 day notice, thankfully I contacted the bank and got it corrected. Even during my text exchange about being billed, she didn’t ask how my mom was doing. I said all this to say that the staff was great, but if you can move your loved one towards the end of life, don’t stay, it’s a money grab at that point.
My family’s experience with Brookdale Watauga has been outstanding. The staff, including Lena, Jennifer, Marianne, and others, truly care about the residents. They operate with kindness and professionalism and work hard to create a great environment for residents. They go above and beyond to make sure their residents are always comfortable & taken care of. I would highly recommend Brookdale in Watauga and would choose it again.
